How Do I Replace My UV System's Ballast?

The Pristine Water Systems ultraviolet unit is powered by an electrical ballast (PMSBALLAST). An electrical component that is running 24/7 may eventually fail and require replacement. The ballast may fail more quickly than expected under certain conditions such as power surges and water leaks. A replacement ballast can be ordered by calling our office (Monday-Friday, 9AM-5PM).

Ballast Replacement Steps

Ballast replacement is easy and does not require any experience. Please call us if you have any questions.

  1. Unplug the ballast from its power source. (This should be done before conducting any maintenance on the unit.)

  2. Unscrew the cord grip from the end nut.

  3. Gently remove the bulb from the chamber by touching the ceramic ends only (avoid touching the glass).

  4. Unplug the bulb.

  5. Connect a new ballast to the bulb.

  6. Carefully insert the bulb into the chamber.

  7. Secure the bulb in place with the cord grip.

  8. Power the unit.

  9. Verify the bulb is lit by looking through the site port.
