How Do I Replace My UV Bulb?

Written by Rebekah Hildebrand

Pristine Water Systems bulbs are marked with the part number for easy reordering, but the required replacement can easily be determined without this information. If you are unsure of which bulb to order, you can simply measure the bulb from ceramic end to ceramic end, avoiding the pins. All of our bulb lengths are noted in inches and their part numbers include the length in millimeters. We are able to assist you via phone Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM. Our UV products page lists our top sellers and includes pricing information.

Installation

A new bulb can be easily installed without experience; however, we recommend seeking a certified plumber if you are unsure about completing the process. Before you begin, please note that the bulb must be handled by the ceramic ends. It is important to avoid touching the glass as much as possible.

  1. Disconnect power. (This should be done before conducting any maintenance on the unit.)

  2. Unscrew the cord grip to free the bulb.

  3. Gently slide the bulb out of the unit.

  4. Disconnect the bulb from the power source.

  5. Connect the new bulb to the power source.

  6. Inserted the new bulb into the unit.

  7. Secure the new bulb with the cord grip.

  8. Reconnect power to the unit.

The UV bulb is protected from water via a quartz sleeve. It may be necessary to clean the quartz sleeve during your annual bulb replacement. Pre-filters will help remove sediment before it reaches the UV treatment system and will also help the unit be more efficient since particles in the water may block the UV rays. Cleaning a quartz sleeve is more involved that a bulb change and may require a professional plumber.

You can sign up for annual email reminders to change your UV bulb at the bottom of the UV Water page.
